PM convenes meeting over Karachi situation todayKARACHI: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani, taking the note on the rising target killing incidents in Karachi, has summoned a meeting on Tuesday, Geo news reported.According to sources, PM Gilani will chair meeting over the law and order situation at Sindh Chief Minister (CM) house here in metropolis besides he has also asked the concerned authorities for the report on the 35 murders left amid target killing in Karachi since June 1st.The coalition partners in Sindh government have voiced concerns over the fragile law and order condition here and urged upon police, rangers and law enforcement agencies for the betterment of their performance during the session of Sindh Cabinet today, sources maintained.A coalition partner has also revealed reservations over the vigilance of police department during session, sources added.The meeting with PM Gilani in chair, will likely to approve many important measures to curb the heinous incidents during the session of Sindh cabinet.

Curfew relaxed in Adezai, MaidanPESHAWAR: Curfew has been relaxed from 6:00 am until 7: 00 pm in tehsil Maidan and Adezai of Lower Dir and from 6:00 am till 4: 00 pm in Malakand Division, Geo news reported.Thousands of people started fleeing towards safer places during curfew break. Security forces pounded militants hideouts in Maidan area from Timergira, district headquarter of Lower Dir on Monday night whereas forces and militants also exchanged fire in Katyari area of tehsil Adenzai. However, no loss of life was reported immediately. Meanwhile, security forces advancing in different areas of Lower Dir as search operation is underway in the areas cleared by security forces.The affected areas of Lower Dir are facing shortage of food and other essential items and power supply is also remained suspended in the area.The Chakdara bazaar has re-opened on Monday after closure of one month and people are busy in shopping of essential items. All government offices are closed and trade activities are suspended in Lower Dir.

70 tribesmen arrested in BannuBANNU: At least 70 tribesmen, hailing from Janikhel and Bakhakhel tribes were arrested under FRC law 21 here in Bannu on Monday while security forces have launched bombardment assault against two tribes, Geo news reported.According to political administration, the security forces commenced crackdown against Janikhel and Bakhakhel tribes following the end of the deadline set by government over the custody of culprits involved in Ramak College offence.The business institutes of two tribes have been sealed arresting 70 tribesmen according to FRC law, sources said.The security forces troops have entered the area launching the decisive crackdown against tribes, political administration said.

Government silent over bloodshed in Karachi: MarajKARACHI: The Vice President of Jamat-e-Islami Sindh (JIS) Maraj-ul-Huda has accused government of being silent over the bloodshed being perpetrated in metropolis; Geo news reported him as saying on Monday.He said this talking to media following the funeral prayer of JI activist killed in Karachi on Monday.The prayer was attended by the central vice Ameer of JI Professor Ghafoor Ahmed, JIK Ameer Muhammad Hussain Mehanti, The Nazim Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba Ateequr Rehman and other activists of the party.Dr. Maraj-ul-Huda Siddiqi addressing the attendees said people are witnessing the killings across city but the government is silent over the bloodshed, adding that people must now untie to avert any international conspiracy or any US agenda.

Former MNA among 3 gunned down in PeshawarPESHAWAR: Three people including a former Member National Assembly (MNA) were shot dead in two separate incidents of firing here in the provincial capital on Monday, Geo news reported.According to sources, the first incident took place when unknown militants opened fire at a vehicle in Matna area, killing two people and leaving two other injured while the two wounded have been shifted to Lady Rading Hospital.Meanwhile in Faqeerabad area, unidentified gunmen gunned down former MNA Fazal Mannan near Abayaseen floor mills, police sources said.According to details released by police sources, Fazal Mannan was heading to home in Rickshaw when anonymous militants opened fire on him, killing him on the spot while he was said to be hailing from Mohman Agency.His son told Geo news, he had no love lost with any one and he was assassinated while he was retiring to home having attended a Jirag in Fazal Colony.

President Zardari asks for agreed formula on GSTKARACHI: President Asif Ali Zardari has directed Federal Advisor Finance to discuss the issue of General Sales Tax (GST) with the Province and come out with an amicably agreed formula. Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah stated this, while chairing a meeting of Sindh Cabinet at Sindh Secretariat here Monday. He informed the Cabinet that he had taken up Sindh�s stand on GST before President Asif Ali Zardari and his response has been positive.
